Superintendent Herman Hicks is the pastor of Greater
Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, in Wichita, Kansas. He is the District
Superintendent for the Wichita District and Administrative Assistant to the
Bishop of the Kansas Southwest Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ under the
leadership of Bishop Mark L. Gilkey. Furthermore, he is the Vice Chairman of
the COGIC Men Perfecting Men Conference under the leadership of Bishop Darrell
After 25 years on active duty in the United States
Air Force, he retired from the military in the rank of Colonel. His final military position was Commander, 22nd
Mission Support Group at McConnell Air Force Base, KS. He was responsible for overseeing the support
for over 4,000 civilian and military personnel, an annual budget of $98
Million, and $416 Million in infrastructure.
In 2008, he was awarded the â€śPastor of the Year
Awardâ€ť from H.O.P.E Inc. In 2010, he received the Golden Eagle Award (for
outstanding community service) from the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. In 2011 he received the â€śClergy of the Yearâ€ť
award from the Wichita Chapter of the NAACP. Actively involved in the
community, Supt Hicks served as the President of the Greater Wichita
Ministerial League in Wichita, KS (Jan 2011 - Jan 2014). He is a Commissioner
on the City of Derbyâ€™s Planning Commission.
Additionally, Supt Hicks served as a member of the Derby Public Schools
and the Wichita State Universityâ€™s Strategic Planning Committees.
He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in
Political Science from the University of Mississippi in 1980, and a Master's of
Political Science/Criminal Justice degree from the University of South Dakota
in 1982. He received a Honorary
Doctorate of Divinity Degree from St Thomas Christian College. He and his wife, Lady Anadina Hicks have four
children and one grandson.
